Graduation Donut Tower with Sprinkles (Printable)

Glazed mini donuts stacked into a sprinkle-covered tower for a celebratory graduation centerpiece.

# What You Need:

→ Donuts

01 - 36 mini glazed donuts (store-bought or homemade)

→ Icing

02 - 2 cups powdered sugar
03 - 3–4 tbsp milk
04 - 1 tsp vanilla extract

→ Decorations

05 - 1/2 cup assorted colorful sprinkles
06 - Edible gold stars (optional)
07 - Graduation-themed toothpick toppers (optional)

→ Assembly

08 - 1 large styrofoam or cone-shaped cake form (about 12 inches tall)
09 - Wooden skewers or toothpicks

# How to Make It:

01 - If making homemade donuts, allow them to fully cool before assembling. If using store-bought, ensure they are fresh.
02 - Prepare the icing: In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Mix until smooth and thick but pourable; adjust milk as needed.
03 - Dip the tops of the donuts in icing, allow excess to drip off, and immediately coat with sprinkles. Set aside for icing to set (about 15 minutes).
04 - Place the styrofoam cone on your serving platter or cake stand. Starting at the bottom, secure the first layer of donuts to the cone using wooden skewers or toothpicks.
05 - Continue stacking donuts—slightly overlapping and working upward—securing each with skewers/toothpicks to build a conical tower.
06 - Fill gaps with extra donuts as needed. For décor, sprinkle additional sprinkles or add edible stars for sparkle.
07 - Top the tower with a graduation-themed topper for a celebratory finish.
08 - Present immediately or store covered at room temperature for up to 2 hours before serving.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The whole setup is less about perfection and more about colorful fun, so you can get kids or friends to help and nobody'll notice a wonky donut or two.
  • It’s flexible: swap in homemade, store-bought, or even gluten-free donuts, and everyone still goes back for seconds.
02 -
  • Trying to stack donuts while the icing is too wet will cause a sliding disaster—I learned this one the hard (and sticky) way.
  • Swapping in mini chocolate or filled donuts adds excitement and always gets people guessing what they're biting into.
03 -
  • Letting the icing set properly before assembly keeps your hands (and tower) neater.
  • Edible gold stars, while optional, make the finished tower absolutely photo-ready.
